About Teterboro, NJ Real Estate Market

Surrounded by boroughs of Bergen County like Moonachie, Hackensack, South Hackensack, Hasbrouck Heights and Little Ferry, Teterboro is spread over 1.11 square miles and is home to just around 100 people. Since the combination of Pine Valley into Pine Hill, Teterboro is the third smallest borough in Bergen County in New Jersey.

The borough of Teterboro got formed from the portions of Little Ferry, Moonachie and Lodi Township in 1917. Further expansion happened in 1918 when some portions of Hasbrouck Heights got included in Teterboro.

The borough is named after Walter C. Teter, a New York investment banker who developed a 700-acre site in the borough of Teterboro for various purposes like building a racetrack, an airport, an 18-hole golf course and reclaiming marshland. While the name of Teterboro was changed to Bendix Borough in 1937, it got renamed Teterboro in 1943.

The borough of Teterboro is home to the Teterboro Airport, one of the largest airports in the Eastern part of the USA. This airport is operated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. It also includes a few portions of Moonachie and Hasbrouck Heights. Due to the presence of airport, the homes which are a part of New Jersey real state in this town are priced higher than the homes in surrounding boroughs.
