About Closter, NJ Real Estate Market

Formed in 1904 from the portions of Harrington Township under an act of the New Jersey Legislature, Closter is a small town located in New Jersey state. This town in Bergen County was erstwhile a village full of sprawling estates and farms, which gradually made way for buildings and homes for sale in New Jersey, and became an upper-middle-class suburban town.

Currently spread over 3.30 square miles, Closter is home to around 8,500 people, making it one of the least populated boroughs in New Jersey. Given its existence in the Middle Atlantic region, Closter has a humid subtropical climate most of the time in a year. The borough shares its boundaries with other municipalities of Bergen County, such as Demarest, Alpine, Harrington Park, Emerson, Norwood and Haworth.

Closter has a mixed lifestyle having a glimpse of both rural feel with open parks and farms and many newly-constructed homes and lanes. There are several parks in the town area, such as Amendola Park, High Street Park, Memorial Field, Mollicone Park, Ruckman Park and Schauble Park. In addition to these parks, the other major attractions of Closter are an outdoor mall called Closter Plaza, which includes many restaurants, shopping stores and a theatre. There is a Closter golf centre, which has a mini-golf course and a two-story driving range.
