About Montvale, NJ Real Estate Market

One of the 26 boroughs, which got announced during the Boroughitis phenomenon that took place in Bergen County in 1894, Montvale is one of the moderately sized counties in New Jersey state. This borough from Bergen County covers 4.03 square miles of area, while around 8,000 people are currently residing in this borough.

The expansion of Montvale began in 1896 when some parts of the Orvil Township got included in Montvale. The borough added more portions from Orvil and Washington Townships in 1906 and from Upper Saddle River in 1912. Montvale derives its name from its topography and is nicknamed ‘the pride of the Passack Valley’.

Six boroughs share their borders with Montvale, including River Vale, Park Ridge, Woodcliff Lake and Upper Saddle River from Bergen County, and Chestnut Ridge and Pearl River from Rockland County in New York. The borough is served by New York State Thruway in Chestnut Ridge and Garden State Parkway at exits 171 and 172.

One of the oldest roller skating rinks in the borough, called ‘The Rink’, was closed in 2007 to make space for a condominium complex. There is a bowling arena in the town called ‘Montvale Lanes’.
