About Bogota, NJ Real Estate Market

Unlike the capital city of Colombia with a similar sounding name, Bogota in New Jersey, the United States of America is a small borough. Founded in 1894 from the portions of Ridgefield Township during the Boroughitis movement in Bergen County, Bogota is one of the oldest boroughs in the region. Around 8,500 people are currently residing in the small town of Bogota, with a few homes for sale as a part of Bergen County real estate.

The credit behind the name of Bogota goes to the Bogert family, which was the first European family to come and settle in the region, thus forming a base of Bergen County real estate in this town. This small town is located on the eastern bank of Hackensack River and is spread in 0.8 square miles. It is surrounded by three other boroughs from all four sides – Teaneck on the Northern and Eastern sides, Hackensack on the Western side and Ridgefield Park on the Southern side.

The entire town of Bogota is divided into two parts – Eastern Bogota and Western Bogota - by the CSX River Line running in the middle of the borough. While Eastern Bogota is commercialized with industries and busy roads, Western Bogota comprises suburban colonies and quaint lanes like West Main Street, River Road and West Fort Lee Road.

While the New Jersey Transit bus service connects Bogota to four other towns via road network, the passenger rail service in the borough ended back in 1966.
