About Norwood, NJ Real Estate Market

Deriving its name from the old description of the place as ‘North Woods’, Norwood is a borough from Bergen County in New Jersey state having a population of around 6,000 people and an area of 2.79 square miles. Located in the northeastern part of New Jersey, Norwood is at a distance of just 2 miles from the New York state line and shares its borders with other boroughs of Bergen County, such as Closter, Alpine, Old Tappan, Northvale, Rockleigh and Harrington Park.

The borough of Norwood was created using the portions of Harrington Township in 1905, as a result of an act of the New Jersey Legislature. Even before that, the present-day territory of Norwood was a prominent part of Harrington Township, between the Hudson River in the east and Saddle River in the west. The population in Norwood began settling in 1686 by many families from the Dutch Republic, who used the Tappan Patent to purchase lands in the territory. Before that, the Lenni Lenape native Americans roamed in the territory. However, now you can have small-sized houses for sale in this part of New Jersey.

There are dense forests surrounding the borough of Norwood, which are home to many species, such as turtles, deer, rabbits, foxes and coyotes. The gradual rise in the human population started interfering with the existing wildlife.
