Formed during the Boroughitis phenomenon that occurred in 1896, the borough of Wood-Ridge is one of the 26 boroughs created in the phenomenon in Bergen County in New Jersey state. Currently, a home for around 10,500 people, the borough of Wood-Ridge spans over 1.12 square miles.

Wood-Ridge shares its borders with other municipalities of Bergen County, such as Hasbrouck Heights, Wallington, Carlstadt, Moonachie and South Hackensack. Wood-Ridge got established as a borough in 1894 by an act of the New Jersey Legislature after incorporating a few portions of Bergen Township.
