About Teaneck, NJ Real Estate Market

Covering an area of 6.24 square miles, Teaneck is home to around 40,000 people, making it one of the largest and most densely populated townships in Bergen County in New Jersey. The formation of Teaneck as a modern township happened in 1895 from the portions of Englewood Township and Ridgefield Township under an act of the New Jersey Legislature.

While the origin of the name ‘Teaneck’ is not yet confirmed to date, it is believed that the name might have come from the Native American origin, which means ‘the woods’. Teaneck currently shares its borders with other municipalities of Bergen County, such as Hackensack, River Edge, Bergenfield, New Milford, Leonia, Englewood, Bogota and Ridgefield Park.

Located at the junction of Interstate 80 and Interstate 95, Teaneck is divided into two parts bisected by Route 4 in the north and south. There are four main shopping areas in the township, such as Teaneck Road, West Englewood Avenue, DeGraw Avenue and Queen Anne Road, where most of the commercial development in the township has happened over the years. Out of 24 municipal parks in the township of Teaneck, around 14 are developed. Votee Park is the largest among all the 14 parks located in the township.
